Nancy Art.

STATEMENT

Despite pursuing other callings in my life, my art has always found me again and again. It has taken various forms over the decades from fashion to mixed media sculpture and now to oil pastels, but it’s always provided the same refuge for me – a place where I can simultaneously connect deeply to who I am while completely losing myself in the process of creation.

My eye has sought to find patterns, yet this abstract work is a departure, and in many ways, a liberation. I use color and texture to explore a deeper emotional experience that lives beneath order. My work offers the chance to stand at the edge and connect to the raw, vulnerable and imperfect places within.

BIO

Nancy Greager began her creative career in the fashion industry doing Visual Merchandising and display windows for Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. During her fifteen-year career in retail, which took her from Denver to Chicago and back, Nancy honed her artistic eye as well as her construction skills.

After graduating with a Business Degree and honors from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Nancy co-founded an artisan-based home furnishings business, which operated successful retail and wholesale divisions, selling works to over 60 galleries and showrooms across the country. A self-taught woodworker and artist, Nancy then began creating her own mixed media wall sculptures, made from stone, metal and wood. She participated in juried gallery shows, solo exhibitions, and was represented by both McGrath & Braun as well as Nine Dot Arts. Many of her sculptural works can be found in commercial spaces and private collections across Colorado.

Melding both her business and artistic backgrounds, Nancy later pursued a career in real estate, which proved to be a natural progression. She has since enjoyed 17 successful years as a Realtor in Denver. She’s also taken multiple classes at Art Students League of Denver, University of Denver and Metropolitan State University, continuing her quest for learning. Today, Nancy enjoys making a total mess out of her small art studio in Denver.
